Before you download

Do I need the printed book to use the app?
No. The daily verse, the free lessons, your streak, bookmarks and notes all work on their own. The book adds the scanning — and unlocks a lot more of the library.
Which book does this work with?
The Bible’s One Big Story from The Devotionist. Every QR code printed inside it is mapped to its own lesson or verse.
Do I have to create an account?
Yes. Sign up with email, Google or Apple — it takes a few seconds, and it’s what lets your progress, notes and unlocked lessons follow you.
I scanned a premium lesson. Do I have to subscribe to watch it?
No. Scanning a code from your own book unlocks that specific lesson permanently, with no subscription. Each code opens only its own lesson.
What if a QR code won’t scan?
Make sure camera access is allowed, and try the torch toggle in the scanner if the page is in shadow. If the app says the code isn’t valid, it isn’t one of the book’s codes — tap “Try again” and check you’re scanning the printed code, not a sticker or a cover graphic.
Is “Talk with Jesus” really Jesus?
No — and the app never pretends otherwise. It’s an AI companion, permanently labelled as one, written to be warm and to ground every reply in a cited verse. For big decisions it points you to Scripture, prayer and real people: your church, your pastor, believers who know you.
Can I download videos to watch offline?
Not currently. Lessons stream, and paid content is protected — which is also why screenshots and screen recordings come out blank on those screens.
How do I earn points?
A welcome bonus when you join, points each time you finish a verse video for the first time, and more for passing a quiz. Points build a global rank and a milestone every hundred.
What is “Your Lamp”?
Your reading streak — “12 days lit”, with your personal best beside it. Miss a day and the app offers a relight grace instead of resetting you to zero. The lamp flickers; it doesn’t die.
Can I use it on two phones?
One at a time. Signing in on a new device signs the previous one out, which keeps your account secure.
How much does premium cost?
Pricing is set per country by the App Store and Google Play, so the app shows you the real price in your own currency before you commit. Cancel anytime through your store account.
What happens if I delete my account?
It’s permanent. We honour the deletion rather than keeping a copy — so that identity can’t sign back in afterwards. Please only do it if you’re sure.
