Bible For All — mobile app

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Bible For All mobile app collects, why, who we share it with, and how to delete it. It covers the app only.

STILL TO CONFIRM before this is final: minimum age, registered postal address, and the AI provider. Search this page for "[[ CONFIRM". Not legal advice - have it reviewed.

1. Information we collect

Account information

  • Name and email address, when you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple.
  • Password — handled entirely by Google Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your password.
  • Mobile number (optional) — used only to match your printed-book purchase so we can unlock your free access.
  • Profile photo, if you choose to upload one.

Your activity in the app

  • Which lessons and verses you have watched, and where you stopped in each video.
  • Bookmarks, highlights and any notes you write.
  • Quiz results, points, rank and your reading streak.
  • Which QR codes from the book you have scanned.

Talk with Jesus conversations

  • The messages you send and the replies you receive are stored against your account so your history is there when you return.

Device and technical information

  • A push notification token, if you allow notifications.
  • App version and crash diagnostics, so we can fix problems.

Purchases

  • A record of subscription purchases and renewals, received from Apple or Google via RevenueCat. We never receive your card details.

2. How we use it

  • To create and secure your account, and to keep you signed in.
  • To save your place, progress, notes and bookmarks across devices.
  • To decide what content you have access to (free, subscription, book purchase, or a lesson you unlocked by scanning).
  • To generate replies in Talk with Jesus.
  • To send the daily verse and other notifications, if you have allowed them.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your notes, highlights or conversations for advertising.

3. Talk with Jesus and artificial intelligence

Talk with Jesus is an AI companion. It is not a person, not a pastor, and not a counsellor, and the app labels it as AI at all times.

To produce a reply, the text you send is transmitted to our AI provider, OpenAI, for processing. Your conversation is stored against your account so you can see your history.

  • Please do not share sensitive personal details in the chat — financial information, health records, or another person's private information.
  • The companion is designed to encourage you to contact a trusted person, your church, or emergency services when a conversation suggests you may be at risk. It is not an emergency service and cannot contact anyone on your behalf.
  • We do not use your conversations to train AI models.

4. Who we share information with

We share only what each service needs in order to work.

Service What it does
Google Firebase Account sign-in and authentication
Google Crashlytics Crash and error diagnostics
OpenAI Generates Talk with Jesus replies
RevenueCat Manages subscriptions and receipts
Amazon Web Services Stores video, audio and images
Expo Delivers push notifications
Shopify Records your printed-book purchase

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data at any time.

Full instructions, including what is removed and what we keep, are on a dedicated page: Delete your account.

In short: delete it yourself in the app under Account → Help & Support → Delete account, or email us a request — you do not need the app installed to ask.

Deletion is permanent. Your account cannot be restored afterwards, and you will not be able to sign in again with the same email address or Google/Apple identity. Any remaining subscription is managed by Apple or Google and must be cancelled separately in your App Store or Google Play account.

We retain nothing after deletion.

6. Keeping your information

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account we remove all of it — we retain nothing.

Records of purchases are held by Shopify, Apple and Google under their own policies. We cannot delete those on your behalf.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@thedevotionist.com.

We will respond to any such request within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.

8. Children

The app is intended for users aged [[ CONFIRM: MINIMUM AGE ]] and over.

[[ CONFIRM — this one matters. If children may use the app, Google Play's Families policy and, in the US, COPPA both apply, and your Play Data Safety declaration changes. Decide your minimum age deliberately and make sure the store listing's content rating matches. ]]

9. How we protect your information

  • Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted.
  • Video and audio are held in private storage and served through short-lived links, not public URLs.
  • Only one device can be signed in to an account at a time; signing in elsewhere signs the previous device out.
  • Passwords are managed by Google Firebase and are never visible to us.

No service can promise perfect security, but we take these measures seriously.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and where the change is significant we will tell you in the app.
